We'll Help You Grow and Upskill Your Workforce

Queensland is facing a shortage of swim teachers and aquatic professionals. This project is here to help.

We’re supporting employers to attract, train, and retain staff across a wide range of roles, including Swim Teachers, Pool Lifeguards, Swim Coaches, Swim School Managers, Pool Operators, Aquatic Technical Operators and Aqua Exercise Instructors. 

What type of employers are we looking for?

  • Swim Schools (independent or part of a larger facility)
  • Sport & Recreation Centres with aquatic programs
  • Schools and Education Providers that deliver swimming and water safety programs

How This Funding Can Support Your Swim School

New Employees: You will recieve $150 per NEW employee to support pre-employment checks, induction administration and Blue Card. Your new employee will select one (1) entry level course (as listed on the Job Seeker page) PLUS either a CPR or First Aid course. 

Current Employees: A selection of one (1) extension course (as listed on Current Workforce page).

Next Steps

Please read the following checklist carefully prior to completing an Expression of Interest Form:

  1. Check your eligibility: 
    1. You must be a recognised Swim School or Aquatic Education Operator based and operational in Queensland. 
    2. You can only attract or upskill a total of six (6) students per venue. 
    3. Please check Job Seeker and Current Workforce pages for course opportunities per employee or potential employee. 
  2. Consider the areas of your workforce that require support.
